I could never take a good photograph - nor can I obviously spell it - Miles from Nowhere is the only person that I know that can (apart from Cecil Beaton and Ansel Adams and the SmugMug community, of course!) I do take the odd shot and though most are hidden in this gallery here are some archival attempts - I am primarily a poet and a painter - see the rest of hogproductions.com. 'Phi-tography' is how we pronounce 'photography' in NZ - we ellide our vowels.

Most of these are some experiments with Picasa 3, SmugMug, Google and Mozilla Firefox. The original paintings photographed were mine. The photos of the paintings were taken by mfnw (Miles from Nowhere) or me. The on-line computer whizzes who devised the above gallery, search engine, photo dubbers and world wide web transfers are responsible for the tweaked end product here. All in all a bit of fun!

The best option for viewing is to CLICK 'Style' - then choose Slideshow out of the five options.

Logo for our fledgling company, appropriately avian. Eagle's claw is the brass foot of an old-fashioned bath. Upside down it looks like someone holding the earth in the palm of their hand. Well imagination is everything in the art game, is it not?

inanga > Tuatara

A photographic treatment of our tuatara - Sphenodon punctatus - the third-eye holder of the knowledge and a survivor on this planet since 260,000,000 years back (pre-Jurassic). Perhaps they know a lot that us newcomers (Homo sapiens sapiens) don't know about. Coexisting in their environment for all those years until we came along and pretty much ruined the planet.

inanga > Thank You note to Bob

Alex Brain sent me your video today. Really great stuff - thanx. Google Earthed your locales and 8900 E Pinnacle Rd, Scottsdale came up. Fond memories and a couple of not so fond ones wandering the ancient Tohono o' Odham water canals around there. Couldn't get your gmail so i figured if i posted it on the web it would get to you somehow.

MNEMOSYNE: MEMORY

"If strange things happen
       where she is
So that men say that graves
       open
And the dead walk, or that
       futurity
Becomes a womb, and the
       unborn are shed -
Such portents are not to be
       wondered at
Being tourbillions in Time made
By the strong pulling of her
       bladed mind
Through that ever-reluctant
       element.'

Robert Graves - and he reckons he's not a poet by calling. He certainly made the goddess appear in this photo!

'Skies Full Of Betty Blue'

She painted her lips a ruby red
Said 'Je t’aim baby it’s got to give'
With her bag full of decoration
She’s on her way
Telling you to plant the tree
From Christmas day

She’s a women
A child so much more
She’s a lover
A mother so much more
Your heart apart she tore
Your heart apart it tore

Her skies full of Betty Blue
Fell apart in front of you
Like a sax that kills your heart
She left you dying in the dark

Belladonna you cry out
You’re the drug I can’t
Live without
Now you’re crawling, crying,
In the dark
Looking for the pieces of
Your heart
Well femme fatale she’s taken
Them away
She left you to die
In the light of day

inanga > The Wisdom of Window Rock

First of all, a big ta to Google Earth for all the pictures in this collage, except the one on the left. Taken on Google Earth 3-D street-view cam looking towards Window Rock, Az. Beautiful sky pattern above the house on Grandview Ave (i think that's what it's called), and fabulous desert sheoak (i think), and Sky cam view of Ceremonial Circle of the Navajo people at Window Rock. Thanx to Google Earth for Borobudur - spelling according to Wikipedia (where they have evocative pics of the temple). The other pic is from a relative's garden and is a memorial to my ex-pet Khaki-Campbell Duck named Duckie.

Enough of the nonsense....back to the Wisdom of Window Rock -

1 Wheeler's Cat

"We will first understand how simple the universe is when we recognize how strange it is.'

John Archibald Wheeler

"In the superposition of states i only just realise how much of a pussy cat i am".

Schrodinger's Damn Cat

"Out yonder there was this huge world, which exists independently of us human beings and which stands before us like a great eternal riddle, at least partially accessible to our inspection,'

Albert Einstein

Planck's Constant

Energy does not grow or diminish continuously but is rather always the multiple of a basic quantum.

[Ed: probably the only constant there is in the infinite universe and it's this - 6.6262 x 10 to the minus 34th power joule-seconds. Frightening eh?]

THE HIGHER LAW

There are three indications of real generosity:

- to remain steadfast without resisting,
- to praise without the emotion of generosity, and
- to give before being asked.

Maaruf Karkhi

One went to the door of the Beloved and knocked
A voice asked, "Who is there?"
He answered, "It is I."
The voice said, "There is no room for Me and Thee."
The door was shut.
After a year of solitude and deprevation he returned and knocked.
"A voice from within asked, "Who is there?"
The man said, "It is Thee."
The door was opened for him.

Jalal'uddin Rumi, Sufi mystic

Think well of the Brothers of Purity
Even though they show harshness toward you;
For when evil suspicion takes hold of you
It severs you from a hundred friends
If a tender friend treats you roughly to try you,
'Tis contrary to reason to distrust him."

Rumi, Sufi mystic, al-Safa
